Visualisation

To visualise means to use mental – i.e. inner – images. You can do it on your own or with the help of another person.
When visualising you focus your attention on mental images (such as a lovely place, a beautiful meadow, a trip etc.) rather than on external, concrete things (ringing telephones – barking dogs – noisy traffic, etc.).

Visualising usually requires practice. It can be difficult – especially in the beginning – to concentrate on the inner images and exclude all external influence.

If you carry out an autogenic exercise prior to the visualisation, it will be easier to create and maintain the mental images.
