Maintaining in-the-ear hearing aids

Here you find advice on how to maintain and clean an in-the-ear hearing aid.
The hearing aid is worn in the ear canal. It is very important for its performance that the instrument is free from ear wax and dirt.

Clean the hearing aid daily with a soft, dry cloth. Never wash the hearing aid with water, cleaning solutions or other liquids.

We recommend that every time the hearing aid is taken out of the ear, you inspect the sound outlet and the microphone and relief vent openings.

Cleaning the sound outlet

If the sound outlet is blocked by ear wax or moisture, remove the wax with the special removing tool enclosed with the hearing aid (small brush) and remove the moisture with a small blower. Do not insert any objects into the sound outlet, as this could damage the hearing aid.

Cleaning the microphone opening

Clean the microphone opening with the wax removing tool enclosed with the hearing aid. Open the battery compartment cover and turn the hearing aid so the battery compartment cover is facing downwards. Guide the wax removing tool through the microphone opening on the battery compartment cover from the inside.

Cleaning the relief vent opening

Make sure there is no wax in the vent by passing the long wax removing tool through the vent. Make it a habit to clean the relief vent opening every day.
