Widex hearing aids to Latvian children
The new Widex distributor in Latvia, Dzirdes Serviss, has successfully completed a project to provide Widex hearing aids and FM systems to a kindergarten for hearing impaired children.
Widex chosen as partner
Widex became involved in the project after Latvian Mobile Telephone - who were about to sponsor the kindergarten project involving 50 hearing impaired children - chose Widex as their partner.
Widex and our Latvian distributor, Dzirdes Serviss, have cooperated in the project to supply the hearing impaired children with Widex products. A team of Widex employees have together with the founders of Dzirdes Serviss visited the kindergarten several times in order to fit the children with hearing aids and to programme the SCOLA FM systems.
National press conference
Following the fitting of the children with hearing aids, a press conference was held on 23 January 2008 attended by TV and print journalists, as well as the Latvian health minister, Ivars Eglitis. The project received broad interest from the media, gaining coverage in Latvia’s largest national newspaper and in a newscast on the largest Latvian TV station - LTV 1.
What is a SCOLA FM system?
The SCOLA FM system works in the way that the speaker - for example a kindergarten teacher - speaks into a SCOLA microphone, which transmits the signal wirelessly to the SCOLAflex receiver attached to the hearing aid.
A SCOLA FM system is a vital necessity in respect to hearing impaired children’s language development, social competence and learning as it is very useful in difficult listening situations, for example in schools and kindergartens.
