New Widex headquarters
Widex is moving to new headquarters in Vassingerød located in the municipality of Allerød, north of Copenhagen in 2009-2010. The new building, currently under construction, is only nine kilometres from Widex’ existing headquarters and is designed by the Danish architects hs white.
Widex has outgrown the present headquarters and the new building will provide 35,000 m2 of space - twice as much as the existing buildings in Værløse.
Circle shape
The three-storey building is designed as a circle (see plan above) that surrounds a large atrium courtyard to be planted with grass, flowers and trees and is designed to be both pleasant to look at and be in.
Environmentally friendly building
Widex hopes the new building will also make maximum use of recycling and renewable energy.
Heat for the building will be supplied by a geothermal system, where groundwater is used like a heat reservoir; excess heat in summer can be stored and used when needed during winter. Our ambition is to reduce energy consumption by 75 percent compared to traditional technology.
The first sod was turned on April 8th, 2008 and the new headquarters are expected to be completed by the end of 2009. In the photograph, you can see the management of Widex turning the first sod of earth in Vassingerød.
