Widex supports marathon for the benefit of children at hospital | On the morning of 31st December 2005, the starting signal for the fifth Copenhagen Social Marathon will be given. The purpose of this special marathon is to help others, and the proceeds from this year’s race will be used to build a playground for the children at Copenhagen University Hospital.
Social Marathon is a project carried by fiery souls with a strong wish to push the limits for a good cause - precisely like the Widex Marathon Team, who ran for hearing awareness in Berlin and São Paulo in the autumn of 2005. Widex does not send any runners this time, but provides a sponsorship donation to Social Marathon.
The surplus from last year’s Social Marathon is handed over to the paediatric program of Copenhagen University Hospital.
”Widex supports this new year’s marathon to help to keep a focus on the healthy relationship between sports, quality of life and a good cause. In addition to our commitment to the marathons mentioned, we allocate many research resources to our own projects regarding children, hearing loss and screening. We hope that we, by supporting this Social Marathon, can help create joy and increase the quality of life of the children at the hospital”, says Widex’ PR Manager Annemarie Jørvad.
The organisers of the marathon expect that about 300 enthusiastic runners will spend this last morning of the year running for the good cause. The proceeds from the race will be handed over to Copenhagen University Hospital in the spring of 2006, and according to the traditional practice at this event, there will be entertainment and activities for the children at the hospital.
