Good hearing affects quality of life

A new international survey indicates an evident link between good hearing and quality of life. The survey, entitled ‘Proven Performance’ has been implemented among both dispensers and hearing aid users in 12 countries in and outside Europe, to discern the results of the successful Widex Senso Diva hearing aid.

It is one of the major hearing aid innovators in the world, Widex of Denmark, that initiated the survey to prove the social benefits of using a hearing aid. Today one in ten people has a hearing loss, but only one in five does something about it.

Significantly, 99 percent of the hearing aid users in the study have noted a clear difference in their everyday life including easier communication. Even more so, 90 percent of the Senso Diva users said that family and friends had noticed that their hearing had improved considerably. A Spanish man explains the impact on his career: ‘ As a journalist, good hearing now helps me face many situations that are typical for my profession. In particular, I need to have many phone conversations in my daily work and my Senso Diva hearing aids have helped me tremendously. Now, owing to these, my phone conversations are much more free-flowing which means that the quality of my work is better.’

Furthermore, 94 percent of the users stated that they had more energy to participate in social events, because it had become easier to communicate and be with other people. Likewise, 93 percent said that they were participating more actively in conversations with other people.

111 dispensers and 92 hearing aid users from the 12 countries participated in the Senso Diva marketing survey which was carried out between February and July, 2003.
